Decisions Decisions...

Two months ago I invested my savings account ($3000) and made some money in the stock game. I have $3600 on my 0% credit card which will all be due in two months, I am only paying the monthly min till then. Essentially, I have $2400 of leftover money.

I have no firearms, no nothing.
-I want a hand gun, a shot gun, and an assault rifle. (plus extras/ammo)

Aim me in the right direction GIM-MILITIA. :)

Remington 870 12 gauge pump-action shotgun. Purchase this first. Watch the Turner's Outdoorsman ads for 870s on sale, and also Big 5's ad in the newspaper. You can get a brand new one at a good price through either retailer and since you're here, they have locations right near your pad.

After this, consider your handgun options. .45 ACP if going semi-auto and .357 magnum if going revolver are my recommendations for caliber. A 9 mm semi-auto (like a Glock 19, for example,) is a good choice, too. You'll need to practice with several different types of handguns to see what feels right to you, ergonomically, and what you can consistently put lead on target with. Like choosing your undershorts, handgun selection is very personal. A co-worker of mine has an unfired, NIB Glock 30 he wants to sell if it turns out that's what you desire.

Battle rifle-wise I like SKSs the best for SoCal, but that's just me. If you have the bread to spare and can locate one, a Springfield M1A has few peers.

I'm a member of a good pistol range in ZIP 91730 with lots of different handguns for rent, and he has an 01 FFL, too. PM me if you want his name/address/phone # to get you started. HTH...

I am in SoCal and I have a SKS (7.62x39) and a Mossberg 500 (12 gauge pump), both in great condition that I might want to sell, we can meet at a local FFL for the sale.. PM me for more details if interested.

Echelon, don't hesitate on the Mossberg 500 series he's offering.

Is the SKS not "illegal"? Not that I care if you guys trade it - shall not be infringed means just that.

This is very helpful information guys! Now, realize I won't be buying a gun very soon. Just realize that I am in the market and I have great intent to be involved in this matter. Thus, I will keep all of your information in mind!!

AS for now, I believe I will wait till my friend gets back from South Dakota in 2/3 months. He has an armory: rifles, handguns, shotguns galore. :emotions16: I will be feeling out and gaining my gun sense slowly. So, I will hang around the firearm threads here for a while. We are at a point in history where liberty will be tested!

I look forward to learning a lot here!

SKS is legal in CA as long as it has no grenade launcher adapter. This one was bought from the gun store with a pretty good muzzle brake tack welded on.

Handgun- Springfield XDm $650
Shotgun- Remy 870 w/sling $400
Rifle- S&W MP15 w/ EoTech $1400

You'll have to spend the rest, and more, on ammo. But these 3 guns will do everything you need til hell freezes over.

Alternatively you could spend extra coin and get an FN FNAR instead of the AR15.

In 2-3 months, you may not be able to legally purchase firearms. At least ones you choose.

OK. I remember the Lungren fiasco, and wasn't sure.

Purchased my first rifle from Big 5 in Costa Mesa many years ago. It was Up on Harbor or maybe Newport Blvd near 18th street back then but I think it was the one that moved up near Adams street on Harbor. Winchester Model 94 many years ago.
Gave it away to a good friend years later who was a Korean war vet who one the silver star. I have given away lots of guns over the years.

Not to worry. They will issue one after they relocate you.
